My Experience/ Review: I joined Pinecone Research on 25 April, 2010. From the beginning, I had the impression that this company was very different (in a good way) than the others I had signed up for. When you sign up you are not given instantaneous entry. I had to wait one day, at which point I was given a username and password used to access an interview survey. When I completed this, I was then asked to wait for a welcome email to start accessing the site. There is really not much need to access the site unless you have a question, want to read their newsletter, check on your survey history, or change your personal details. They send you invitations via email. (1-2 surveys per month) So far I have received and competed one survey which was processed on May 3. I expect to receive my compensation in the mail any day now. I have also read that they send out product samples as well. They are a well respected and honest online survey company. Many people consider them to be the #1 online survey company. I would definitely recommend joining. My only complaint would be that they don't send out enough surveys. But if your getting paid, and at a pretty good rate, there is really no reason to complain! : )
Join/ Refer a friend: Apparently they are a pretty exclusive research company to get into. They only allow new recruits at certain times and the only way you can sign up is to find and click on one of their banners. (So I am not completely sure if the link below will work.) Other Notes: They seem to be very serious in what they do and when you sign up to receive these surveys I think they expect you to complete them. If you are going away and will not have time to check your email, you can notify them of your absence and they will put your account on temporary hiatus so that you will not miss out on any surveys. The key is to participate. However, I don't know why you wouldn't.

HCD Surveys
Well, where do I start. I have decided to try and write at least one review of an online paid survey site each day. This is my goal, but of course I will try to write more if feasible. I wasn't sure which of my 36 sites on my list I should start with. I thought about going in alphabetical order, but then decided to begin by sharing my favorites so far. You must remember, I've only been doing this for a little over a week now so I may change my mind at some point. These are simply my first impressions.

Payment: Mailed check, (after your request allow 2-4 weeks for payment processing, although in another place it is listed as being 6-8 weeks until you get your check...I sent them an email to confirm and will keep you posted.)
Cash Out Requirement: at least 1000 points or $10
Point System: 100 points = $1
Average Payout for Survey Completion: $1 (100 points) - $5 (500 points) per study; (Although my experience has been about 25-50 points, these have been quick and easy.) If you enter a survey and are disqualified or closed out due to maxed segment quota, you are still credited 10 points.
History of Company: HCD Research was founded in 1991. They created HCD Research Panels in 2005. The company developed the www.readmylipz.com campaign for the 2004 Presidential campaign.
My Experience/ Review: I joined HCD Surveys on the 25 April, 2010. Since then I have received 3 surveys to take. Of those 3 surveys I was able to complete all 3 of them for a grand total of 100 points. The surveys were entertaining, generally political in nature, and did not take much time to finish. The site includes a convenient list of your survey history with survey name and ID, date, status, and points. Also there is an easy "contact us" tab where all you have to do is fill in your comment/question and press submit. While I was there today, I read that you may be better matched and receive more surveys if you complete your profile. I realized that I had not finished 3 of the 4 sections, so I did. It was super quick and not as tedious as some sites. Maybe I'll see more activity from them now. I hope so! This site is great so far. Good quick and easy surveys, points posted immediately, and they even email you about the survey results afterward. So far I have found this survey site well worth the time and effort!
Join/ Refer a friend: You receive 50p for every new member you refer after they have been verified and complete their member profile.

Other Notes: I guess that the company has been having some problems with an unidentified third party mailing out false checks in their name with requests for survey participation, or secret/mystery/investigative shopper opportunities that ask you to submit personal information in order to win a cash prize. They urge you not to give out that information and have a place to email/ fax them to report an incident on their homepage.
International: I would guess they do not allow participants of countries other than the US as they only pay in American dollars and don't allow you to select another country of residense during registration.

Introductions and Explanations
Well this is my first official blog posting ever. I never thought I would actually do this, but here I am. Anyways, who am I, what is this blog all about, and why is this wasting space on the internet? I am just a regular girl in her early 30's who was made redundant from her job in July 2009. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a new job and because of my difficulty, I ended up applying to grad schools. I have just been accepted for the 2010/2011 term and I now need lots and lots of money to make this happen.
I first came across paid online surveys when I started frequenting scholarship search websites which had them advertised. I figured I might as well try it out and see what its all about. The only thing I have to lose is time, which I have plenty of these days. I started registering with paid survey sites on April 24, 2010...(IMPORTANT TIP: I registered under a special email account which I created just for these sites. I like to keep my email accounts separate...one for personal, one for professional endeavors, one for work, etc...It all depends on what you want to do, but this way if you decide to get out of the survey business then all you have to do is just stop reading 1 email account.) So its only been a little over a week that I have been a surveyor...I have been documenting my experience and the different places where I have accounts and I thought it might be useful to share my experiences with others. So here it is "The Paid Survey Experiment"! While I have read many times that paid surveys are a scam and actually take more time than they are worth, I'm stubborn and have to see for myself. Hopefully, readers will be able to learn from my mistakes.
I plan on joining as many sites as I can find (so far I'm at 36) and blog about what the different sites have to offer as well as the outcomes (do I get a check, how much and how long does it take to actually take to make money, how many emails do you get a day, is it worth your time, etc.). At some point, I imagine that I will be able to finalize my favorites list and become somewhat of an expert on the topic. I hope that you enjoy the blog and are able to use this information to your advantage!
